Gracias Miguel y Polly. |

I joined CrossFit because I wanted to be healthy again. I was only 15 lbs overweight, blood pressure was quite high, my cholesterol levels were over 200,I was pre-diabetic, I also suffered from migraines and allergies. I would also get winded quite easily. My doctor kept on insisting it was due to my weight gain. CrossFit has given me my confidence back. It's given me my life back. I've dropped the 15 lbs that my doctor has asked me to plus a few more. All of my numbers are back to normal, and am off of all of my meds, and for the first time in my life
I can honestly say I feel great both mentally and physically. I began to feel and see the changes within the first 2 months. I began to recover a lot faster from my workouts, I can run about 2 miles (I hadn't been able to do that since I was in my early 20's) I've lost quite a few inches, I went from a size 10-12 to a 6-8, and continue to drop. I've also put on quite a bit of muscle. Changing my meals to be a lot healthier and balanced has improved my overall feeling and energy throughout the day. I eat a lot more fruits and vegetables. I also went from being a total couch potato to 4-6 workouts per week or average. |

I had read about crossfit in a fitness magazine and was very curious to know what it was all about because the editor of the magazine had given it a try and was hooked immediately. I didn't know there was a crossfit gym here in the Valley until a friend of mine, Chris Henderson, told me about this gym he had joined that would change my life. I gave it a shot and I have now become addicted to crossfit. Crossfit has definitely given me more discipline and stability in my life. I'm up every morning at five o'clock excited to get to the gym. I've always enjoyed lifting weights, but nothing compares to the intensity of the crossfit WODs.
I am always wide awake ready to go because there is that anticipation of not knowing what challenges you will face for that day's WOD. Immediately after my workout I am incredibly exhausted, but by the time I get to work my body and mind are sharp and ready for the day's challenges. I have also had no trouble sleeping at night. I really started feeling stronger after my first month, but my cardio really improved after the first couple of weeks. Diet is a very important part of the program and i have read that the Paleo Diet is recommended for crossfit athletes. I received the book, The Paleo Diet for Athletes, for Christmas and plan to start getting strict with my diet.
As far as appearance goes, my body has definitely leaned out. I was wearing a 33 waist when i started two and half months ago, I am currently a 31 waist size. I feel after I start the diet I will see more changes in my body. Not only to improve appearance but to improve my performance in WODs. What we eat is fuel for our bodies, and i plan on committing even more to the program by cleaning up my diet with the paleo diet book. |

I joined cross fit because I wanted to see if I could get fit enough to possible participate in a marathon someday. Cross fit has made me stronger, especially my upper body. It has also made me want to push myself harder every time I go workout. I remember after about 6 weeks I started to see some changes in my endurance and in the way my body looked. I then started to change my food intake (more protein and veggies, less fried foods and sugars) and that's when I really started to notice changes. My body got smaller and my endurance increased. I really enjoy cross fit. I like the way each workout is different...great muscle confusion. It's never boring and I feel like I'm always improving because my body hurts all the time :)!! |

1. Why did you join Ranger CrossFit?
-I gave CrossFit a try at first because I had heard good things about the CrossFit program. I had been going to a local gym, working out and running at least 4 times a week but I wasn’t really improving. I was just maintaining my strength and NOT losing any weight. So I figured I give CrossFit a try and after the first week of working out I knew it was for me. I loved the high intensity and core strength workouts. CrossFit pushed me to do lifts I would of never done on my own.
2. What has CrossFit done for you?
-CrossFit has taken my strength and conditioning to a higher level I hadn't seen since playing football in high school and college. It pushed my limits to improve and not just maintain.
3. How long before you felt and saw any change in your body?
-The first two weeks were brutal. I was extremely sore but then I started to see results in the mirror. After 30 days I had already lost 5 pounds, then I lost another 5 pounds 60 days later. I had made huge gains in my strength and conditioning and I was still losing weight. Gaining muscle while losing weight is hard to do.
4. What changes if any have you seen?
-I'm better looking and an animal in the sack.
5. Have you changed your lifestyle in any way? (food, Daily life)
-Starting CrossFit gave me the motivation to quit smoking cigarettes. I knew I wasn’t going to be able to meet my own expectation and do my best if I continued to smoke. I smoked for over 10 years and since I quit I've felt like a new person. |

I joined Ranger CrossFit because I was bored with the "globo-gym" experience and wasn't seeing the results I wanted, even though I put in approximately 1 1/2 hours/5 days a week. I was somewhat familiar with the CrossFit concept, and had several friends who were CrossFit addicts. Having personally seen the results they had attained, CrossFit seemed like the perfect answer. I was very attracted to the fact that it focuses on functional movements, that it is high intensity, and that no two workouts are the same.
CrossFit has changed my life. For me, it's not just an exercise program I do every day, it's a lifestyle. I've never been the most flexible person, and never will be, but CrossFit has definitely increased my flexibility through its' focus on stretching and the myriad of motions it includes on a daily basis as part of the WOD. CrossFit has also helped me make great strides in my strength and conditioning, as well as cardiovascular endurance. It has demonstrated that I can push my body far beyond the limits of what I previously thought it was capable.
CrossFit is not only about physical empowerment, it is also about mental empowerment. Because CrossFit is so different from any exercise program of which I've taken part, I felt and saw results within weeks of signing on. Instead of working one or two muscle groups a day, it provides a full body workout EVERY day.
I've seen and felt numerous changes since signing on with Ranger CrossFit. Mentally and physically, I'm a much stronger person. CrossFit has caused me to be much more focused in numerous aspects of my life, whether it's working out, deciding what to eat, etc. I recently participated in the Ranger CrossFit Paleo Challenge. After 7 weeks, my most measurable changes were the loss of approximately 4 inches on my waist and 8 pounds, while adding approximately 3 inches in my bicep. CrossFit has become a lifestyle, especially through the Paleo Challenge, the importance of providing your body with the right fuel to achieve maximum results, mentally and physically. I've always worked out, but I've also always eaten whatever I wanted. Through tools such as www.beyondthewhiteboard.com, CrossFit has taught me to be accountable, that to achieve the desired results, I have to be willing to make the necessary sacrifices, and devote the required time, energy, and effort. |
